We are very proud and excited to reveal that Jørgen Nørgaard has been given the prestigious special award ’ELLE Prisen’ 2014.
‘ELLE Prisen’ is given at the ELLE Style Award by ELLE’s editor-in-chief Cecilie Christiansen and is in their own words ’given to a person that has made something spectacular for Danish fashion in a number of years. A person who has played a major role in putting design talents in the spot light all over the world, and that is still working on pushing Danish fashion both nationally and internationally’.
Jørgen Nørgaard has been one of the greatest pioneers in Danish fashion ever since he opened ’Nørgaard paa Strøget’ on Strøget in Copenhagen in 1958. In 1967 Jørgen designed the iconic ’101’ rib t-shirt that has been a fashion evergreen ever since and is now sold in over 3 million copies. Today Nørgaard paa Strøget is run by Jørgen’s son Mads Nørgaard and the iconic ‘101’ t-shirt is still designed with Jørgen in the design team.
