Mads Nørgaard and Artikel København launch mini collection, produced directly in Copenhagen. As a part of the launch Artikel København moves their workroom into the wellknown window of the shop Nørgaard Paa Strøget in the coming two weeks from the 25th of April to the 8th of May.
The jackets will be produced in the window with direct view from Strøget.
Artikel Købehavn is an award-winning clothing brand supported by The State Art Fund. I 2020 Artikel won The Salling Prize for Denmarks most sustainable clothing brand and they are noticed for their local production methods. The family business lies in the heart of Frederiksberg at Gammel Kongevej 37, where shop and workroom lie in connection with each other. Here their entire assortment is being produced by hand, piece by piece.
The cooperation is derived from a mutual set of values and a common interest for the locally produced.
“I have long been a fan of Artikels simple design and at the same time impressed by the fact that they produce locally in Copenhagen. We ourselves produce our #101 T-shirt in Denmark and have just launched a collection of heavier flat knit, also produced in Denmark. Therefore it feels obvious to invite Artikel inside our window where jackets will be sewn and adjusted for the next two weeks. As something unique Artikel will also produce jackets in the striped pure wool textile that we have developed in collaboration with Kvadrat. We often have both art, concerts and clothing in our beautiful window but it is, as far as I recall, the first time we will have an actual production taking part in the window – and we are looking forward to it!” – Mads Nørgaard
“For us Mads Nørgaard represents something iconic with focus on a classic approach to clothes and we share a lot of values and therefore we think that a collaboration with a salute to the locally produced was obvious. Mads Nørgaard also produces their own 101 T-shirts in Denmark which also have become an iconic piece of clothing. We are also inspired by the generational change that has taken place in the store at Strøget where Mads is now the third generation to sell clothes. We ourselves are a family business and of course dream of being able to carry on Artikel. It is a very beautiful thing to let things evolve with new generations and thus the campaign is a tribute to familiar relations." – Malthe Risager, Artikel København
With The Mads Nørgaard + Artikel København Collection Nørgaard have interpreted Artikels classic workwear jacket into two different versions.
One jacket is made with Mads Nørgaards classic stripes in his specially developed wool quality. Jacket number two is produced in a green heavy twill with Nørgaards signal color, orange, in the inner edging.
